Book presentation. One Fold Book: a project by AMBruno.
Friday 29 June 2012, 7 – 9pm, talks at 8pm

At its most basic a book consists of a folio – a sheet of paper once folded.

AMBruno presents new work made in this simple essential form following a project brief by John McDowall. A single sheet of paper or card with one fold, resulting in what might be read as either four consecutive pages or as a cover, two interior facing pages and a back cover. Content such as image/text may, for instance, be on or materially incorporated in one or more of these pages.

The books created by the members witness a diversity of responses to this formal constraint, with a wide range of conceptual, material and structural approaches.

AMBruno is collective of mainly London based artists. The founding members came together on the MA course at Central Saint Martins in 2007. AMBruno work in various disciplines, including painting, photography, video, performance and sculpture, but extend their individual practice into a shared exploration of the medium of the book.

I’ve Never Read Her
Thursday 12 July 2012, 7pm

This month, as agreed with all who attended June’s meet up, we’ll be reading Dorothy Parker – The Little Hours (included in this Penguin Classic Collection, which helpfully is only £3). It’s a mere 8 (small) pages long so won’t take you longer than 20mins to read.
