XARCHIVE RUPERT

The XArchive is a collection of over 100 books that were launched between 2008 – 2014 at X Marks the Bökship, a bookshop for independent publishers in London, UK. Each book launch was accompanied by a reading, performance, screening, exhibition or discussion. Publishers include And Public, Article Press, Bedford Press, LemonMelon, Precinct, Primary Information, Spector Books, True, True, True and The Everyday Press and range from art and design journals to art writing essays, poetry zines and artists’ books.

The XArchive will be housed at the Reading Room at Rupert, Vilnius between January and June 2015 where residents and visitors can use it as a resource. The aim of the travelling collection is to take a snapshot of recent independent arts publishing and distribute these ideas to new audiences and places. The XArchive has travelled to Karlsruhe and Berlin in Germany, Arnhem in Holland and Cardiff in Wales. XBooks
